AIMS

"Learning does not merely mean the accumulation of knowledge, but the understanding of how that knowledge can be utilised"  (Lowenfeld).

1. We aim to build upon the learning foundations already started at home. To establish a sound relationship between home and school involving parents fully and actively in their child's learning and in the life of the school.

2. We aim to offer children the opportunity to achieve their full potential by developing the necessary skills, attitudes and knowledge. We aim to help children grow as responsible, caring individuals and to begin to make their own decisions, develop independence, initiative and self-confidence.

3. We aim to offer a secure and stimulating learning environment with an integrated, creative and active curriculum to enable children to become successful learners by offering equality of opportunity for all pupils to enable them full access to the curriculum.

OBJECTIVES

  • To ensure that all pupils are given the opportunity to attain their full potential, by setting challenging but achievable targets for everyone.
  • To enable children to become actively involved in the learning process through meaningful and stimulating activities, including questioning, problem solving and investigative type work.
  • To enable children to become independent learners with the opportunity and resources available to fulfil this.
  • To encourage children to take pride in their own work and that of others and to strive for the best standards and quality of work and presentation.
  • To enable children to reach the early learning goals ‘scaffolded’ by the stepping stones of the Foundation Stage curriculum.
  • To understand and be confident in acquiring and applying the necessary skills and knowledge associated with all elements of the National Curriculum, and particularly with regard to Literacy (including Reading), Numeracy, Science and Information & Communication Technology.
  • To competently handle and use modern technological tools and equipment
  • To help children develop inner understanding of religious belief and faith and to recognise the diversity of cultural and religious faiths around them.
  • To be tolerant and sensitive towards the needs of others and to develop habits of self-discipline and accepted behaviour.
  • To be self-motivated and persevere with the tasks in hand.
