Information Communication Technology (ICT)Children at Green Lane are encouraged to become confident and independent in the use of the computers and other related technology (e.g. digital cameras, floor turtles and sensing equipment). They are taught specific ICT skills in a dedicated ICT suite which houses 30 computers. The teaching and learning of ICT is based around the QCA Scheme of Work. Pupils and staff alike are encouraged to use ICT to support their work in all areas of the curriculum. Every classroom (and our Community Suite) at Green Lane is equipped with an Interactive whiteboard. The Suite, in addition to being used for ICT skills lessons, is used for a weekly early morning Computer Club and every day at lunchtime for both a KS1 and separate KS2 Computer Club. Furthermore, the children are able to use the computers and access the Internet as part of the weekly Wednesday Homework club (run after school). Children are able to use the Internet for research and decide what information is appropriate for their work. They learn how to amend their work and present it in a way that suits the intended audience. During Community Week we held Parent Workshops to encourage parents and carers to support computer use at home for educational purposes. A list of recommended websites was provided and the Powerpoint slides presented can be found below. We are currently launching the Learning Platform at Green Lane. So watch this space… there will be more to report on in the very near future!
