Meet Miss Crowe!

I am really enjoying being a part of the Green Lane team and wanted to share with you a little more about myself and my role within the school.

My first degree is in English literature and reading remains a real source of comfort and relaxation for me. I completed a PGCE in 2002 and moved to Kingston, from Sheffield, to begin my teaching career at Latchmere School.

It would be difficult for me to identify an area of the curriculum that I don’t like but my particular interest is in science. I have led the subject within my previous school for five years and continue to do so at Green Lane. In 2006 I qualified as an Advanced Skills Teacher for primary science. This is an exciting role, which involves me delivering training in other schools about teaching science. I am currently employed by both the boroughs of Sutton and Kingston as a part time science consultant who trains science coordinators across these two regions.

My love of science has led me to set up the after school Science Club at Green Lane! I am thrilled to find it already oversubscribed and so packed with enquiring young minds. Science club gives me the opportunity to spark an interest in science within the children and indulge in a real area of interest for me.

Maths is another subject I really enjoy and I am teaching three maths enrichment classes a week at Green Lane to cater for the needs of our gifted mathematicians. In addition to this, I am taking part in an exciting new project within Kingston called Making Good Progress and through this I will be working with ten children from Green Lane, every week, on a one to one basis to develop mathematics skills.

Being the Deputy Headteacher of a school means I am in the privileged position of interacting with all the pupils of the school. I can be found each morning at the gates greeting families and I lead the school council, which gives me an opportunity to listen to the opinions of our children.

I am continuing my studies at Kingston University, working towards a Masters Degree in Leadership and Management within education. My final year project will be to develop an area of Green Lane’s environment and so I’ll be looking for lots of helpers with that!

It’s a pleasure to work in a school as positive and forward thinking as Green Lane. I welcome opportunities to get to know all our families and am keen to resolve any issues that may have arisen. If you do wish to see me you can find me at the gates to the playground in a morning or you can email me at the address below.
