Grounds
Situated at the end of a residential road and flanked by two fields and a stream Green Lane School couldn't be greener! There are well-tended flower beds at the front of the school, an area where the gardening club can sometimes be seen working.
We have a large playing field with ample room for running off some energy during the lunch break as well as to be enjoyed during games lessons and on our many family occassions such as sports days and the school fairs. Both Key Stage One and Key Stage Two have their own trim trails and each key stage have a tarmaced playground.
Our foundation stage, nursery and reception classes, have a purpose built garden for the chilldren to enjoy. With a fort and slide, play house and planted area imaginations can run wild! The curriculum is taught both inside and outdoors where possible. Even the rain doesn't stop them as they put on their wet-weather gear and do exploring (if you come to visit do look out for the teachers wellies - we think perhaps they have a competition for the brightest pair!!).
We have an environmental area which was rediscovered and bought back to it's former glory by a group of volunteers in 2006. The area is a haven for wildlife and somewhere peaceful for the children and staff to reflect. All classes make use of the area; the nursery children often think they have been on a trip when they go hunting for mini-beasts in the overgrown grasses.
The school has a travel plan and we encourage all visitors to use sustainable transport where possible. We have a bike shed and hope to receive funding for a second one soon. If you do need to travel by car then we have a staff car-park and ample parking on the road outside the school.
